Regular Auger

Designed for use in most soil types, this is the most versatile soil auger in the AMS line. The regular auger is used for general sampling of most soil types and for gaining access to sampling points. The auger bits are open to allow entry of small soil lumps and relatively small rock particles.

Mud Auger

Laser-cut, open cylinder design for easy removal of heavy, wet, or clay soils. The AMS mud auger features two openings in the cylinder wall to facilitate emptying as well as wider spaced bits than the AMS regular auger to ease entry of sticky soils.

Note: For firmer, wet soils, the AMS mud auger may be adapted with regular bits. Call for details and pricing.

Sand Auger

Designed for use in sands and dry soils. The AMS sand auger is a closed bit design with a restricted opening to prevent loss of sampled material. The inner edges of the auger bits just barely touch at their mid point

Planer Auger

Removes loose material from the bottom of an augered hole! Planer augers are fi tted with a cutting blade on the underside of the cylinder. The unique design allows for the removal of loose material from the bottom of a hole in preparation for collection of a core sample.

Open-Face Auger

Unique design allows for quicker soil penetration into combination soils. Thick, 10 gauge high carbon steel has been hand-formed with an aggressive cutting head, yielding quicker soil penetration. Unique design of cutting head pulls itself into the ground with little effort and makes this auger useful in combination soils, from mud/clay to hard-pan. The open-face design is useful for quick visual profi le of soil sample and for easy soil extraction.

Dutch Auger

Easily collect disturbed samples in rooted areas and soft soils. Hand-forged from high-carbon steel and honed to a fi ne cutting edge, this auger will cut through highly fi brous and heavily rooted soil. Excellent for use in fi brous areas such as vineyards and orchards and in soft soils. The open design allows for easier mud shedding capabilities.

Flighted Screw Auger

Designed for use in hard, rocky, compacted soils. The AMS fl ighted screw auger is designed to bore into hardened soil conditions to collect a disturbed sample. Features double twisted fl ighting with smooth edges for easy soil penetration.

5” Bucket Auger

Allows for the use of three cutting teeth, rather than two.
