ECT’s Continuous Center Rod System used with Direct Push
soil samplers, saves time, money, and improves driller’s confi -
dence. The Center Rod System will work with the soil samplers
you are currently using; it works best with 1.25-inch or
1.5-inch probe rods. With this system, our clients have driven
MC Samplers from the surface, straight to 40-feet, and have
collected a sample from 40-feet to 45-feet without any problems! |

Here is how it works: The desired Soil Sampler is fi tted with a
new Center Rod that extends through and fl ush with the top of
the Drive Head (see photo); then for every Probe Rod that is
added, an equal length Center Rod is also added. As you are
advancing your tooling, the Center Rods are butted up inside
against the Push Cap holding the Soil Sampler Piston Point
seated closed inside the cutting shoe. When you have reached
your sample interval, you simply do not add a Center Rod and
drive your sample the desired length. As you drive the sample,
the soil entering the Soil Sampler pushes the Center Rods
up as the soil sample enters the Soil Sampler.
Sample recovery can be verified immediately by determining
how much the center rods have raised. The Center Rods
are precisely cut to length and are made of a special hardened
Alloy Steel that resists bending and deforming. The center
rods are available in all probe rod lengths. Center rods are also
available in all sizes and lengths, for the soil samplers you are
currently using.
